Hi!
I'm a graduate of Berklee College Of Music that earns my living teaching, recording, and playing guitar in North Carolina.
On this page you'll find transcriptions, solo guitar arrangements, and guitar lessons for songs and artists I find particularly interesting, and usually a little off the beaten path. I love twangy guitars, fuzzy psychedelia, open tunings, all kinds of slide guitar, stabby angular playing, as well as thoughtful melodic simplicity.
Thanks for checking out my channel!

You rock bro good shit
Gracias from Madrid!
Thanks so much!
awesome man, ive been playing guitar daily for nearly 20 years and never really could translate what I know in my brain to what I feel with my hands. Watching this video gave me the biggest leap in that direction that any video ever has. Thank you and well done.
especially that sneaky Eb ting xD
Real talk, your plants look really healthy. Really happy girls back there.
Great video. Do you have a channel with you playing in a band?
kick butt lesson, good job thanks for sharing.
Great lesson on how to take this classic in a unique direction. Makes playing this more 🤩 🎉😊
way better than Marty
What are your thoughts on the MXR Blue Box?
Is that Phase 90 turned to the 9:30-ish position for this whole video? If not, what were the settings? Thanks.
Beautiful stuff! Loved and subbed❤
Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.. perfect
Watching on replay, and everything was fine. Very interesting interview.

When you played the E to F# (I,II) chord progression I had a tune stuck in my head for ages. That turned out to be 'something in the air' by Thunderclap Newman
You made me realize Free Fallin is basically a Pettyized version of Ain’t That Nothin
love the variety, in general, love the choice of this variety in particular (Levy)!
This is such a game changer. I’ve improved alot with these tricks
Love that guitar.
*A)* it's not a mini humbucker, it's a Firebird pickup, it has two bar magnets in place of the polepiece and slug configuration instead of a single magnet underneath two coils *B)* given it's an early 2000s MIK Epiphone there's a very good chance it's not a real neck through guitar but rather a set neck *C)* they've always looked cool AF, the 3 pups/maestro configuration with gold hardware is to die for
Thank you, God blessed 🙏😇
What is that wammy arm !! I want one for my Tele 😃
I must get an attenuator! Has anyone tried the Weber mass 200? I noticed it has a built in treble boost. Keep up the awesome work Eric H.!
Such a great lesson here. It strikes me that this is almost the exact same positional sequence that Angus Young uses in the Shook Me All Night Long Solo (except in G instead of A and I guess he leads off with a minor root 6 position, not a major root 6 position)
Hearing you say you’ve stopped working hard on chops is refreshing. I’m in the same boat. I spent 20yrs playing rock/metal/bluesy mostly lead stuff. Im at this crossroads where I’m enjoying learning/playing pretty basic, acoustic singer-songwriter stuff. However, I have this guilt in the back of my head that my playing is going to not progress…
A dialed in Mustang how ?
There are some really good teachers online. I think you are def super high up there near the peak. Such good lessons. Thank you!
"How do I know I got better? I didn't quit." That's great advice. Just have fun, keep playing, you'll get "better" for some definition of "better".
Advice aside, this is the only star caster that has caught my eye. Maybe it’s the humbuckers on the oxblood-cream color
Oh that’s brown nevermind
Can Jesus think of a lick so cool, not even he should play it?
great channel!! like and susc. Greetings from Chile.
I'm tellin' ya'... If I had to be stranded on a boat (with gear and electricity... I guess AC, a clean comfy boat and a stocked fridge...) I'd want it to be with Heir Haugen. Not only would it be musically amazing, I just know he has a scar on his leg and knows how to hide at the bottom of the ocean to avoid being eaten alive by a giant Great White shark.
I'm way ahead of you. I shut my brain off. Lately I've been just playing by ear and trying to hear the note/sound I want to make before I do it, and then try to hit it by intuition. Any bad note is jazz or a bend or quick shift to the note I was aiming for. And I've gotten much better at it. I'm hoping to marry it with trying to play melodies I hear. I mean frankly learning music hasn't been much of a focus in 52 years, so, there's that. But I am growing closer to snuggling up deep under the wing of Haugenhoffen.
So grateful for this content. Must ask a question because I’m confused! At the section around 2:24, shows the initial chord sequence as G-Em. Since there is an E over the G, and since there is a D in the Em, shouldn’t they be G6 and Em7? Thanks to anyone who can help!
Wooooooooooooooooow, it's beyond cool to see you two together! Thanks!
AMAZING video, Eric, thanks for sharing!! Some deep wisdom in here, as always.
Hendrix was a sweet little nerd himself behind the rock persona lol.
Dude you are the Bob Ross of the guitar world. 😅 your videos aren’t just super informative but so chill.
It's great to have the chord boxes on the screen as you play 👍
I've started learning the caged system last month, after years of mucking around with the guitar and getting nowhere, and it's already pushed my playing level up. It takes time, can be hard on the hand initially, and it felt a bit like re-starting playing guitar, but every lesson just opens a new aspect to the fret board.
It’s a Squier but that Starcaster design and headstock will always be favorite until I leave this earth
thank you so much!
That tone and guitar sound like a Tarantino movie.
I loved this lesson! The only thing that threw me off was the BbM changes (12:30's) Seemed like we got out of the CAGED shapes?? I guess it has do do with the minor??
Ohhhhhh, I’m diggin’ that!!!
Beautiful Tele!
that is a cool guitar that sounds real good. great lesson, even if its too advanced for my level.
Man you’re funny!! Really enjoyed this fantastic lesson!
Liked, subscribed and shared😁
another great lesson, thanks for sharing. you're a great teacher.
